On The Road to Niagara Falls: Mwalim Goes To The NAMMY's

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - As the Native American Music Awards draw near; the on-line public votes are being tallied and re-tallied; and the folks set up at the Seneca Niagara Falls Casino for the Friday celebration of the 12 Annual NAMMY Awards; Mashpee Wampanoag singer/ songwriter/ producer, Mwalim takes to the road to attend for the first time, having been nominated for Best Pop and Best World Music recordings for his "The Liberation Sessions" CD.

Not only is Mwalim a nominee this year, but he has also been tapped to be a presenter for the highly prestigious ceremony and award. Armed with copies of the CD (nominees get to sell copies in the lobby) and his keyboard (for the post award jam session), this will be the first time that a Mashpee Wampanoag recording artist will be involved in the awards.

"The Liberation Sessions" which earned Best Male and Female (Amaris) Jazz Vocalists awards from the New England Urban Music Awards last April, and has yielded two underground download hits; "Ain't Done Yet - Feat. Amaris" and "DEM BIG GIRLS" has steadily been attracting the attention of music industry executives as well as film and television producers seeking music for their upcoming projects.

"No matter how you slice it," says Mwalim with a grin, "Friday night will be a night to remember."
