CAMBRIDGE, MA - Saturday, December 4, 2010 will be the 1st New England Native American Art & Crafts Show; at the Peabody Museum, 11 Divinty Street, Cambridge, MA. Doors open at 9am. NAMMY nominated and NEUMA winning performer Mwalim will be one of the featured performers, serving up his own blend of soul-funk-jazz music and storytelling @ 3PM. There will also be storytelling, musical performance and book readings, from regional and nationally known Native American performers and authors including Joseph and Jesse Bruchac, Melissa Tantaquidgeon-Zobel, the Nettukkusqk Singers, and Allen Sockabasin.
Native American artists from across New England and beyond will showcase their work for one day only! Featured artistry will include silver and wampum jewelry; ash, sweetgrass and etched birch-bark baskets; wampum creations; carvings; pottery; paintings and more.
