The following is a note from incumbent Mashpee Tribal Council candidate, Patricia Keliinui. Sunday, February 13 is our tribal council elections. I urge all enrolled tribal members, ages 18 and up to go to the tribal council and vote!!!
Hello, my name is Patricia Keliinui and I am a proud product of Mashpee. My mother was Clara Louise Peters Keliinui, one of a long list of civic leaders within our Tribe. My 16 year old son, Jordan, is a junior at Mashpee High School and preparing for collegiate visits within the next year.
Tribal involvements over my lifetime include being a member of the Nashauonk Mittark Newsletter, Winter Ball, Tribal Scholarship and Election committees. I was the founder and organizer of the Clara Louise Keliinui Memorial Golf Classic which provided assistance to Tribal students for more than 10 years. I was previously elected to the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribe, Inc., Board of Directors in 1999 and served one term until 2001. Presently, I am a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council.
Thirteen months ago, I was humbled by your confidence in me when elected to the Tribal Council. Since then, I have been part of the positive progress of our Tribal government. I have been proud to serve our Tribe as Old Indian Meeting House Committee Liaison; Winter Ball Liaison; Powwow Liaison; Project Manager of the IMLS/Museum $40,000 Grant; facilitator of CITGO/Citizen’s Energy grant; Interim Enrollment Director from May to August 2010; facilitate job opportunities
through the “Union Trades Expo”; represent the Tribe at the Dept. of Indian Education “Grants for Indian Children” conference in Washington, DC; assist the Finance Department through implementation of a new software system; and attend every Tribal Council and Sunday General Body meeting.
I will continue to bring a traditional, commonsense approach as your Councilwoman to create jobs, improve educational opportunities and help our Tribe move forward. My belief in our entire Tribal family is unwavering and my commitment has never been stronger. I respectfully ask for your vote on Election Day!
I endorse Patricia Keliinui for Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council!!!
